As I get off the phone with another person with a busted website, I’m reminded of Liam Neeson’s line in the movie ‘Taken’ when he’s explaining what his government job was.

I’m a Preventer. I prevent bad things from happening to your website.

Today a client for whom I built a website long ago called and said that her website is down. It appears she ignored all the web hosting company’s notifications that they needed to move her website to a new server. I’m crossing my figers that the hosting company still has good backups.

Last week a gentleman called and said that ‘something was wrong’ with his website. After a cursory examination , I found that something in the server was screwed up. Unfortunately their support department was not very helpful. It took about five hours to back up the website and move it to a different and more reliable hosting company.

And not long ago, another client woke up one day to find his website gone because he ignored multiple emails from his web hosting company alerting his that the credit card he had on file had expired.

If I were a cold-hearted cynical person, I’d be happy about these phone calls.  Some poor business owner is up a creek without a paddle. He’s called me to solve his problem.  Frankly, I’d rather be able to prevent the problem in the first place.

I’m a Preventer. I prevent these sorts of bad things from happening to your website, but I can do that only if you are a client of our Website Overwatch service.
